Jorge Crespo, director of the degree in Industrial Organisation Engineering (IOI), has made a guided visit to the Hitachi Astemo plant in San Felices de Buelna after the invitation of the current Site Operation Manager, Pablo Fernandez, who, during the visit, showed all the phases of the production process of the plant and made a presentation of the company.
The Hitachi Astemo plant focuses on the production of parts for the automotive sector, and is one of the most important production plants in Europe within the group. Specifically, they make brake components, developing parts that are widely compatible with numerous types of vehicles of different brands and manufacturers.
The visit, framed within the collaboration actions signed by agreement between both institutions, seeks to establish mechanisms to provide the students of the European University of the Atlantic (UNEATLANTICO) with options to carry out their professional and labour practices in the company, as well as to offer opportunities for recent graduates to enter the labour market.
In this sense, as a result of the collaboration agreement, the Centro Empresa Universidad (CEMU) has already published paid internships for IOI final year students who are interested, as well as for future students of the Master’s Degree in Industrial Engineering. In addition, the company’s Human Resources department has already conducted interviews with graduates of the degree for their possible incorporation.
In recent years, the number of engineers graduating from universities has been decreasing, making it increasingly difficult for companies to acquire new talent. In this sense, it is becoming increasingly common for companies to look for engineering students in their final years at universities instead of waiting for them to graduate.
With these collaboration agreements, UNEATLANTICO always seeks to support its students and facilitate their integration into the labour market, bringing students closer to companies and providing them with the necessary tools and opportunities.
