Dr. Jesús Espinosa Gutierrez, lecturer at the Universidad Europea del Atlántico (European University of the Atlantic, UNEATLANTICO), participated in the programme ‘Youth for Youth Project Cantabria Helsinki-Spain 2025’, organised by the Helsinki Association, dependent on the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE).
Espinoza’s presentation entitled “Gender and equality. Basic concepts and tools for non-discrimination ‘ delves into the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) such as gender equality, reduction of inequalities and partnerships to achieve these goals.
As a result, several students of the degree in Psychology (PSI) had the opportunity to participate as workshop leaders in schools in Cantabria, working with students of ESO and Bachillerato on awareness-raising issues related to the SDGs. Initially, they received a 5-day intensive training, in which Jesús also participated as a trainer. Subsequently, they visited schools and high schools, applying the service-learning approach.
‘Youth for Youth Cantabria Helsinki-Spain 2025 ‘ is an education and awareness-raising project on Human Rights and values aimed at schoolchildren and university youth so that children and young people are aware of their own rights and obligations, favouring their development as responsible members of a global, egalitarian, diverse and inclusive society.
