The Universidad Europea del Atlántico (European University of the Atlantic, UNEATLANTICO) hosts a new session of the second edition of the “¿Y ahora qué?” (And now what?) job conferences with the presentation of the Cantabrian engineer Javier Cavada Camino, president and CEO for Europe, Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) of Mitsubishi Power, one of the leading technology giants in the energy sector.
The second day of the cycle was led by Javier Cavada, an industrial engineer with extensive experience in the energy sector and who has worked in various countries such as Germany, China, Italy, Finland, and the United Kingdom. PhD in Industrial Engineering from the University of Cantabria, as well as a master’s degree in International Management from the University of Liverpool. In addition, he is an industrial technical engineer specialized in mechanics.
First, Cavada began by recounting his beginnings as a student and his first experiences in the working world. He also stressed the importance of getting out of the comfort zone. “Going from having total control over life to a situation where it breaks the stability but allows you to shoot up, to grow, to step up.”
He also mentioned that “there is always someone watching, analyzing how they perform, how they adapt, what decisions they make, and how they act in times of crisis.” For Cavada, “the only way to act well in times of crisis is to be in crisis.” If everything goes well, it is a foretaste that something is going to change.
Another of his reflections has been: “It is essential that we do something that we love, that fulfills us, that completes us, and that inspires us. Life is not for letting go, it’s for squeezing all you can out of it.” He also motivated the students by affirming that “there is no single thing, no single job, to which one cannot aspire. There is no place that cannot be reached. Change is the best thing that can happen because that is what creates opportunities.”
Ambition and attitude are the common denominators in Cavada’s professional career, and this is what he wanted to transmit to the students.
Finally, the moderator, Francisco Zuzunegui, SITE/UNEATLANTICO director, Mentor Palanca Talento y Personas Cantabria 2030 of CEOE-CEPYME Cantabria, took the opportunity to insist on the following: “You don’t know many places, but you will certainly know them because some of you will be undertaking this international career. Believe in yourselves, be prudent, listen, and work as a team.”
