Guillermo Barros, delegate of the Tax Agency in Cantabria, gave a series of workshops for students of the degree in Primary Education (EP) and students of the Master’s Degree in Teacher Training of Compulsory Secondary Education and Baccalaureate, Vocational Training and Language Teaching of the European University of the Atlantic (UNEATLANTICO).
A total of four sessions were held, in which the main objective was for students to understand the correlation between public spending and public revenue, as well as the consequences of tax fraud in the public system and to identify the important figures of the tax system. Also, the aim was to encourage students to internalize civic values.
For the students of the Primary Education degree, this opportunity has shown them the importance of instilling fiscal responsibility in primary school students, helping them to recognize it as a basic pillar of citizenship in a natural way.
For their part, the students of the Master’s Degree in Teacher Training learned about the skills needed to design and develop learning spaces with a special focus on equity, values education, citizenship training and respect for human rights.
UNEATLANTICO thanks the Tax Agency for taking into account the future trainers of our university, introducing this activity and providing students with tools of great importance for their future work.
