Gastronomy students organise a culinary practice as part of the subject ‘Culinary Techniques I’.
Gastronomy students carry out culinary practices as part of the Culinary Techniques I course.

The students of the degree in Gastronomy (GASTRO), of the European University of the Atlantic (UNEATLANTICO) carried out a culinary practice taught by the coordinator of the degree and teacher of the subject ‘Culinary Techniques I’, Marina Pelayo, in which they prepared recipes with basic ingredients.

These practicals were carried out in the kitchens of the university campus, where the students prepared different dishes during the week in order to be able to apply them in their daily and university life.

Some of the dishes prepared were different types of soups, pie dough, quiches, chicken paella, mushroom risotto, rice with shrimps and also desserts such as rice pudding and lemon tart.

In addition to applying the theoretical knowledge learnt in class, the students were able to perfect their cooking technique, as well as manage and evaluate the different portions and calculate the cooking and resting times in order to obtain the expected results.

Thanks to the knowledge acquired during these practical activities, the students will achieve the necessary competences to organise and plan their personal work properly, apply their knowledge related to gastronomy to solve situations that require solutions within the professional practice as well as adopt responsibilities regarding ethical commitments and obligations within their area of knowledge.
