Film professionals give master classes at UNEATLANTICO as part of the VIII Santander Film Festival
UNEATLANTICO hosts four master classes as part of the Santander Film Festival.

The Assembly Hall of the European University of the Atlantic (UNEATLANTICO) hosts, for the second year, four masterclasses given by professionals in the film industry on the occasion of the celebration of the VIII edition of the Santander Film Festival (FCS).


These talks, open to the entire university community, were of special interest to students of Audiovisual Communication, Journalism and Advertising and Public Relations.
To open the master classes, Antonio Saura, general director of Latido Films, an international sales agency specialized in Spanish and European cinema, spoke about his experiences and anecdotes of distribution in the world, always focused on sales. He also commented that you never know where you are going to end up, that “life takes many turns” and that “everything adds up”.
Laura Basombrío and Anahí Farfán, director and producer of “Las almas” respectively, spoke about the possibility of being independent when shooting, mixing the stages of the work in order to go deeper into the work. They also explained how it is sometimes necessary to change plans and turn the initial script upside down.
For the third master class, the filmmaker, researcher and programmer of documentary film festivals, Ruth Somalo, proposed a tour of the different facets of her work, talked about the proper use of copyright and stressed the importance of making contacts.
Finally, Gabriela Sandoval and Mela Márquez, together with Fernando Madero, representatives of the Ibero-American Producers Foundation and experts in production and distribution, discussed the audiovisual chain with a focus on the circulation and dissemination of productions. In addition, Mela shared with the students present his experiences at the Cinemateca Rural de Bolivia. He also stressed the importance of audiovisuals in education.
Throughout the week, the master classes promoted by Helena Garay, head of the Cultural Extension area of the university, together with Ana Visiers, director of the degrees in Communication and Ángela Ruiz, professor of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities, provided UNEATLANTICO students with an enriching opportunity to learn first-hand from leading film professionals.
