Dr. Silvia Aparicio, Vice Rector for Academic Planning and Faculty of the Universidad Europea del Atlántico (European University of the Atlantic, UNEATLANTICO), highlighted the value of European alliances in the internationalization of universities during the last Conferencia de Decanos de Economía y Empresas (Conference of Deans of Economics and Business, CONFEDE), held at the Faculty of Business Sciences and Tourism of Ourense of the University of Vigo and which brought together more than 70 faculties from all over Spain.
Dr. Aparicio, an active member of the board of directors of CONFEDE and CONIDECE shared a table of dialogue and exchange with Santiago Pozo, who was introduced in place of Maribel del Pozo, Vice-Rector for Internationalization of the University of Vigo, and Beatriz González, Vice-Dean for International Relations of the University of Vigo.
The discussion revolved around the internationalization of the university through European Alliances, for which Dr. Aparicio presented the case of DIVERSE (Digital and Innovative Venture Science Education for Resilient and Sustainable Entrepreneurship), the consortium in which UNEATLANTICO is present. University alliances, under the auspices of the European Commission, represent a transformation of the university structure by promoting not only student and faculty mobility, as in the case of Erasmus+ but also the creation of joint curricula endorsed by the European Union.
In addition, Dr. Aparicio presented the lines of internationalization for the faculties of Economics and Business through the Consejo Iberoamericano de Decanos de Economía y Empresa (Ibero-American Council of Deans of Economics and Business, CONIDECE). This organization, aimed at fostering collaboration in teaching, research, and academic extension, continues to make progress in its intense work to promote the international integration of universities.
Since 1998, CONFEDE has been dedicated to promoting, improving, and coordinating economics and business studies at the university level in Spain. It meets twice a year to create forums for debate and exchange to explore and discuss topics of interest for university teaching in economics and business.
In the center, Dr. Silvia Aparicio, together with Ana María López, from the Autonomous University of Madrid; Carlos Berzosa, former rector of the Complutense University of Madrid; and Eugenio Luque, current President of CONFEDE.
