Dr. José Maria Grande Urquijo, Colonel of Infantry with a diploma in General Staff gave a talk on Geopolitics in the Middle East, which was organised by the Dean of the College of Journalists of Cantabria and lecturer at the European University of the Atlantic (UNEATLANTICO), Olga Agüero.
It was attended by more than fifty students from the degrees in Business Administration and Management (ADE), Advertising and Public Relations (PRP), Journalism (PE) and the Expert in International Relations.
Urquijo presented his military career, taking into account his leadership in operations in the Maghreb and the Middle East as well as his leadership in Intelligence in Bosnia. In addition, he is the author of several publications on Islam and an expert in international crisis management.
His main objective was to acquaint students with the current situation in the Middle East, and to provide a global perspective on the issues and strategies of international importance between the territories. It also covered topics such as the birth of Arab nationalism, the birth of political Zionism, the Palestinian-Israeli conflict and the arguments of both territories.
To conclude, a round of questions was held in which the students showed great interest in Middle East politics and the global situation. They had the opportunity to clarify doubts on these issues and discuss international political strategies.
