Dr. Álvaro Velarde Sotres, academic director of the University Master in Sports Performance: Training and Functional Assessment and Coordinator of the PhD Program in Physical Activity and Sport: Risks and Benefits of the European University of the Atlantic (UNEATLANTICO), presents the new edition of the Master in Sports Performance that offers training aimed at professionals who seek to optimize physical performance, from a scientific and practical perspective, with reference speakers at an international level.
Structure and curriculum
The programme has a load of 60 credits, spread over two semesters throughout an academic year. The curriculum includes eleven subjects, including Theory and Practice of Sports Training, High-level Training Physiology, Functional Assessment of the Elite Athlete or Nutrition and Sport Performance.
In addition, the master’s degree includes the completion of external professional practices and a master’s degree aimed at consolidating the knowledge acquired through direct experience in real high-performance environments.
blended modality
The master’s degree is taught in a semi-classroom format, combining online and face-to-face training to offer a flexible and complete academic experience. The face-to-face sessions, which will take place on the UNEATLANTICO campus in July 2026, include presentations by international experts, practical workshops in small groups and visits to sports centres of reference, where students apply the knowledge acquired in real contexts.
These sessions are led by professionals with extensive international experience, experienced in the preparation of athletes and elite teams, as well as in research applied to sport.
scholarships and grants
Thanks to the collaboration with the Ibero-American University Foundation (FUNIBER), students can access scholarships for financial aid to attend this program.
With this degree, UNEATLANTICO reaffirms its commitment to advanced training, research and academic excellence in the field of sport.
