Carlos Lago and Josep Alemany represent UNEATLANTICO in a meeting with the General Director of Deporte to follow up on their collaboration and promote new initiatives

The Universidad Europea del Atlántico (European University of the Atlantic, UNEATLANTICO) held last Tuesday, November 21, a meeting with the General Director of Deportes (Sports), Susana Ruiz. Josep Alemany, head of the Servicio Internacional de Convenios y Acuerdos Deportivos (International Service of Sports Agreements and Conventions, SICAD), and Dr. Carlos Lago, academic director of the degree in Sport and Exercise Science, represented the academic institution at the meeting.

Throughout the talk, different relevant aspects were discussed, such as the collaborations that UNEATLANTICO maintains with the General Directorate of Deportes. Both agents also discussed the new initiatives promoted with sports federations with which UNEATLANTICO maintains projects, particularly highlighting the organization of university championships thanks to the activity of SICAD.

From the Servicio de Actividad Física y Deportes (Physical Activity and Sports Service, SAFD) and SICAD itself. a first contact was had with the new General Director in which they discussed various initiatives that are being carried out as well as future proposals in which the Department of Culture, Tourism, and Sports will participate.

Dr. Carlos Lago also gave a detailed update on the work carried out during the last year in relation to the “ia”Plan de Prescripción de Actividad y Ejercicio Físico de Cantabria” (Physical Activity and Exercise Prescription Plan for Cantabria, PAEF), developed by UNEATLANTICO. It should be noted that this work brings to the national forefront a project that has European funding.

Finally, Lago and Alemany underlined the University’s availability to collaborate in the following phases and discussed possible lines of collaboration of interest to UNEATLANTICO students in relation to sports management.
