The Assembly Hall of the European University of the Atlantic will host the International Climate Action Congress (CIACC) that will take place on 6, 7 and 8 July. The event is organised by the Fundación Empresa & Clima, the Iberoamerican University Foundation (FUNIBER) and the European University of the Atlantic. The Ministry of Ecological Transition and Demographic Challenge, the Government of Cantabria, the Santander City Council, IPPC: Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, the Presidency of COP 27, and the United Nations Climate Change Secretariat are also collaborating institutions.
The congress, which will be attended by the president of FUNIBER, Dr. Santos Gracia and the chancellor of UNEATLANTICO, Rubén Calderón, is aimed at executives and managers of companies in any sector, local, national and international administrations and experts who are interested in the progress of climate change who wish to learn about its problems and possible solutions. Also, for those seeking inspiration in the application of new technologies and business models that wish to review their sustainability, as well as for those interested in learning first-hand about the challenges we face as a result of climate change.
CIACC Programme
The congress programme will be inaugurated on the 6th at the Gran Casino de Santander by the representative of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) and the representative of the Ministry of Ecological Transition and Demographic Challenge (MITECO). During the inauguration, attendees will be able to enjoy a welcome cocktail, a concert offered by Camerata Universidad Internacional Menéndez Pelayo and a gala dinner.
On Thursday 7, the first session will be held under the title Roadmap for biofuels and biomaterials. How we can decarbonise our supply chains or value chain. Speakers on this day will include:

The second session, Financing Loss and Damage. Climate justice and ‘loss and damage’ as principles that should guide climate emergency response, will be held on the same day, with the participation of:

The third session will be held on Friday 8 under the theme Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM): How will the Regulation work, what consequences will it have for businesses and consumers? Speakers will include:

The fourth and last one will take place on the same day, in which the main topic will be Voluntary Carbon Markets (VCM). What are they and what is the role of voluntary carbon markets and will be attended by:

- Manuel Estrada. Director, REDD+ (Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and Forest Degradation) and AFOLU (Agriculture, Forestry and Other Land Use), Verra.

- Maryke van Staden. Director of ICLEI’s carbon Climate Center.

During the sessions, there will be expert round tables, moderated by Nuria del Pozo (CHF) and company round tables, moderated by Elvira Carles (CHF).
