The professor of the degree in Sport and Exercise Science (CAFYD) of the Universidad Europea del Atlántico (European University of the Atlantic, UNEATLANTICO), Adrián Rodríguez, stands out in his participation in the 2024 Skeleton World Championship held in Winterberg (Germany).
Adrián Rodríguez has achieved his personal best by finishing 25th, entering for the first time in the coveted Top 25 of the competition. The rider qualified for the fourth set, reserved for the world’s top 25, and achieved his best time on that last attempt, recording a time of 56.91 seconds. The final cumulative time for Rodríguez was 3:52.50.
On the other hand, in the mixed competition, which closed the skeleton weekend, Adrián Rodríguez and Ana Torres-Quevedo, also representing the Spanish national team, demonstrated their skills by completing their descents in a combined time of 2:04.04. This performance ensured them 18th place in the final mixed ranking.
It should be recalled that, Rodríguez had previously been proclaimed Spanish skeleton champion for the second consecutive year in Innsbruck (Austria), and in the World Cup, held in Yanqing (China), he had finished 18th with a time of 2:09:18.
Skeleton is an Olympic winter sport that is part of the different modalities of downhill sledding, along with bobsleigh and luge. In skeleton competitions, participants descend headfirst down a steep and risky ice track using a small sled. This sport stands out as the main sliding discipline worldwide.
Adrián Rodríguez’s outstanding performance at the 2024 Skeleton World Championship not only places him in the coveted Top 25 but also highlights his constant dedication to the sport that demands the best from its participants.
