A hundred students from UNEATLANTICO enjoy the “Mundialito de Fútbol” organized together with Real Racing Club

The community of the European University of the Atlantic (UNEATLANTICO) enjoyed the first edition of the successful Mundialito de Fútbol UNEATLANTICO. Organized by the Physical Activity and Sports Service (SAFD) of UNEATLANTICO in close collaboration with the Real Racing Club de Santander, the tournament brought together nearly a hundred students at the Nando Yosu sports facilities.

Ten teams, representing various countries such as Colombia, Ecuador, El Salvador, Spain (with two teams), Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Peru, and Venezuela, competed with great enthusiasm. The group stage saw the teams play four intense matches each, culminating in the advancement of Mexico, Venezuela, Guatemala, and Spain to the semifinals.

The grand final was a thrilling clash between Spain and Venezuela, where the home team demonstrated its superiority by winning 2-0. It is worth noting that the Spanish team maintained a flawless record, winning all the matches played throughout the championship. The champions were awarded prizes by the Real Racing Club, a gesture that underlines the strong alliance between the two institutions.

The day was marked by an outstanding atmosphere of sportsmanship and fair play, reflecting the commitment of UNEATLANTICO’s SAFD to promoting this type of activity. The university thus reaffirms its commitment to initiatives that allow students to enjoy sport and strengthen ties within the university community.

This collaboration is not new, as UNEATLANTICO and Real Racing Club de Santander have a solid relationship that encompasses the areas of sports, education, and research. This University Soccer World Cup is a clear example of how both institutions work hand in hand to promote sports and its values among young people.
