The (Universidad Europea del Atlantico) (European Atlantic University) (UNEATLANTICO) held this week a new session of the «And now what?» , an initiative aimed at bringing the professional world closer to university students through the testimony of relevant figures from the business sector.
On this occasion, the talk was attended by Jaime Urculo, president of Elecnor, and Jaime Real de Asúa, former financial director of Cementos Portland and Instituto de Empresa, who shared with the students their personal and professional experiences as leaders of large companies.
The meeting began with a presentation by both, where they stressed the importance of academic training and personal attitude in the development of a successful career. They then addressed a number of issues that they consider to be critical in bringing new talent into their teams.
Among the salient points, they stress that, beyond technical knowledge, companies value especially attitude, motivation and willingness to learn. They also highlighted the relevance of mastering other languages, as foreign language skills not only expand job opportunities, but also allow for more comprehensive development in international environments.
They also emphasized the importance of effective communication, teamwork and adaptability to change. In this regard, they stressed that maintaining a curious, open and positive mind is essential to meet the challenges of today’s working environment.
During the session, the value of the international profile in today’s professionals was also addressed. An individual who learns from other cultures and develops in multicultural contexts not only enriches his or her curriculum with a new language, but also enhances his or her creativity, innovation and global vision, qualities increasingly appreciated by companies in an interconnected world.
The talk ended with a session of questions, which allowed to clarify doubts and deepen in the topics discussed, thus encouraging an enriching exchange between the participants.
