16 teams from different institutes and schools of Cantabria participate in the VIII edition of the Pre-University Debate League of UNEATLANTICO

The European University of the Atlantic (UNEATLANTICO) organizes for the eighth consecutive year the Pre-University Debate League, an academic event of great relevance that will bring together young students with the aim of promoting argumentation, critical thinking and oral expression. The competition kicked off yesterday, Monday, March 10 at the UNEATLANTICO campus.

In this edition, 16 teams from schools in different parts of Cantabria will participate, who, through a live draw, will take a position for or against the following topic: “Is the Pact for the Future proposed by the UN a useful measure to improve the quality of life of the European population? In addition, the University will award prizes to each member of the winning team, the best speaker and the members of the finalist team.

For the second consecutive year, the UNEATLANTICO Debate League will be the qualifying tournament for the Spanish Pre-University Debate Championship, organized by the Spanish University Debate League (LEDU). This gives the winning institute the opportunity to represent Cantabria in the national competition. In this sense, it is worth mentioning the participation of Torrevelo-Peñalabra School in the last edition of the championship, where it represented Cantabria after winning the VII Pre-University Debate League of UNEATLANTICO.

Finally, the director of the Debate League and teacher of UNEATLANTICO, Luis Eduardo Prado, stated that “the University’s Pre-University Debate League has become a space in which the schools and institutes of our Community can promote the communicative skills of the students, contributing to the personal and academic growth of the young people in Cantabria”.
