Great participation from UNEATLANTICO during the first phase dissemination of the UNESCO study on the management of COVID-19

European University of the Atlantic collaborates in a study to measure the citizens’ perception on the COVID-19 response based on the ethical recommendations proposed by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).

This is a study coordinated by the National Center for Documentation in Bioethics, based on the “Joint Declaration on COVID-19 Ethical considerations from a global perspective” which proposes 11 ethical recommendations on the global response to the COVID-19.

The aim of the study is to make the public’s perception on the COVID-19 response known, taking the above-mentioned Declaration as a reference. So far, almost 3,000 questionnaires have been completed in full, submitted from 22 different countries.

In addition to answering the questionnaires, many participants have shared personal experiences that are very useful and can, in themselves, be the subject of further analysis.

Countries such as Colombia, Mexico, Argentina, Ecuador and Peru account for 50% of the responses collected. And UNEATLANTICO’s international nature is allowing the massive collection of data.

The study is not yet complete and more answers are expected in the coming weeks. Participation is anonymous and voluntary. It consists of answering a questionnaire developed from the previously mentioned eleven recommendations and includes socio-sanitary exposure indicators to the pathogen.
