Flags from Every Country Receive First Year Students

The European University of the Atlantic today welcomes international students beginning their four year degrees in the Santander Campus. In total, there are nearly 80 students from 18 different countries (Angola, Argentina, Brazil, Cameroon, China, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Equatorial Guinea, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Peru, Dominican Republic and Venezuela) enrolled in 14 degrees from all the areas of knowledge offered by the institution.

The meeting took place in the assembly hall, attended by the UNEATLANTICO Chancellor Rubén Calderón; the General Secretary, Roberto Ruiz; the Coordinator for International Students, Emilia Ricci, and the Director of International Latin American Relations, Monica Gracia.

Mrs. Gracia assured that “it is my personal and professional joy” to count with students from 18 nationalities that have come to Santander, further stating, “to share their experience training and dreams”.

Mrs. Gracia encouraged them to enjoy what would be their “home” for the next four years, as well as to make the very best of the opportunity of “living in another country, another continent, all within an international surrounding”. “The University will provide you with all of the support you need so that you may achieve your expectations during these coming four years”, the Director said, who likewise, had some especially warm words for those students coming from Angola and Cameroon as this is the first year that UNEATLANTICO enrolls students from said countries.

For his part, the Chancellor stressed that the international character is one of the pillars over which the European University of the Atlantic stands upon. «I believe that it is a true privilege that a student may attend a classroom where a third of their classmates are from other continents». In this sense, Calderón also referred to the UNEATLANTICO Student Residence where students from more than 40 nationalities cohabit.

More international students

And these are only those first year students. We must also add more than 250 second, third and fourth year students, as well as personnel attached to other international programs. UNEATLANTICO also enjoys the presence of 51 other students from Erasmus + which come from universities in Belgium, Holland, France, Germany, Sweden, Turkey, Poland and the Czech Republic, as well as others studying in Santander thanks to a bilateral agreement with universities from Argentina and Mexico.
